Courteneers give back with ‘Winter Wonderland’ single

Courteneers are wrapping up their most successful year yet with a sold-out national tour, a brand new charity single, and a deluxe edition of their biggest album to date.

The band, who play London’s O2 Shepherds Bush Empire and The O2 Forum on 4 and 5 December, release ‘Concrete Love – Extra Love’ on 27 November, with the expanded edition of 2014’s Top 3 album available as double CD, download, and through all streaming services.

The accompanying new single – ‘Winter Wonderland’ – is a soaring Christmas song written on Norah Jones’ piano in her New York home. First performed by Courteneers frontman Liam Fray at a night personally curated by the late Lou Reed in NYC, this version was recorded at Miloco Studios in September this year. In the producer’s chair was Stephen Street, who produced Courteneers’ debut album ‘St Jude’ in 2008.

All the band’s profits from sales of ‘Winter Wonderland’ will be donated to Shelter.

Apart from ‘Winter Wonderland’ and the original 11-track album, ‘Concrete Love – Extra Love’ features three rare EP tracks and previously unreleased acoustic versions of five ‘Concrete Love’ tracks.

Expect to hear plenty of songs from the album when the band hit stages across the UK over the coming weeks. Most shows on the 17-date trek, which kicked off at Leeds O2 Academy on 23 November, sold out within 30 minutes of going on sale.

The band have asked for a £5 donation to Shelter for anyone on the guest list on the tour, which also includes an unprecedented seven-night run at Manchester’s O2 Apollo.

The donations will be divided between Shelter and local charities across the Manchester dates.
