Brian Fallon of The Gaslight Anthem is returning to London – but this time as a solo artist.
“I’ve been waiting a long time to do this tour and I’m excited the opportunity has come to play these songs live for everybody there,” the singer and guitarist wrote on his website.
His show at Koko on 8 April 2016 will mark his first in London since The Gaslight Anthem played Shepherd’s Bush Empire in August, their second last show before going on an indefinite hiatus.
Since then Fallon has been recording his first solo album, ‘Painkillers’, with producer Butch Walker.
“I think this was easily one of the most enjoyable experiences I’ve had both writing and recording a record. Everything feels right to me and I’m happy to finally see it coming into it’s own thing,” he wrote of the album, which is due for release early next year.
“We’ve been starting every song out with acoustic guitar, vocal, bass, and drums live and then we pretty much build from there. It’s a great way to do it because as each thing goes on top you start to hear more and more of a finished song. We’re choosing each layer carefully and only putting on what we feel adds to the song, not just layering for the sake of slapping 32 guitars of the same part.”
On tour, Fallon will be performing these new songs with a band he’s calling ‘Brian Fallon & the Crowes’. They’ll also be playing tracks from ‘Elsie’, the 2011 album he recorded with guitarist Ian Perkins under the name the Horrible Crowes.
Tickets for Brian Fallon & the Crowes at KOKO on 8 April 2016 go on general sale on 6 November 2015.
